According to a story by the Associated Press in September, a 33-year-old woman in Green Bay, Wisconsin was charged with stealing the identity of her 15-year-old daughter to enroll in a local high school and join the cheerleading team.
In an update to that story, she was recently found not guilty due to mental disease and has been committed to a mental health facility for three years.
Records show that she attended one day of class at Ashwaubenon high school and practiced with the cheerleading squad while posing as her daughter. Investigators found her true identity when she was reported as a truant and found that she had been jailed in a forgery case.
